INNOVATION IN EUROPE – THE STEPDOWN ROOT SYSTEM - EXEMPLIFIED BY THE "KRASULA" MIXTURE

In 2005, the SOWUL & SOWUL company, as the first one in Europe, created a stepdown root system, owing to the composition of their mixtures.
In certain regions one can observe more and more often occurrences of
droughts at the early stages of the growing season. Hence, Sowul &
Sowul offers you special forage mixtures. Their stand composition has
been designed in such a way, as to ensure that limited access to water
will not disturb the proper growth of plants. The growing process of
the roots of Poaceae and Fabaceae that constitute our mixtures, forms in
the soil a structure resembling steps (see the graph). Trifolium
pratense (red clover) and Medicago sativa (alfalfa) have taproots,
reaching deep into the soil. Also certain species of grasses, eg.
Festuca arundinacea (tall fescue), Dactylis glomerata (orchard grass)
and Festuca pratensis (meadow fescue), possess a well-developed root
system, allowing them to obtain water and nutrients from deeper layers
of the soil. The company of these plants positively affects
shallow-rooted species, providing them with necessary nutritive
substances, including water. Sowul & Sowul's mixtures are meant to
counteract the results of a drought.
From the economic point of view, our mixtures will yield you high
quality crops of bulk feed.
