ABOUT THE COMPANY

Sowul & Sowul Sp. z o.o. is a fairly new company in the agricultural business. It was set up in February 2004 as a family firm by Przemysław Sowul and Grzegorz Sowul. Despite its short history, the company boasts expert employees with great professional experience. We hire farmers with over 30 years of experience in the seed business but also young and enthusiastic graduates from agricultural academies.
We take great care as regards the quality of our merchandise, professional customer support as well as swift and reliable filling of orders.  We know that in farming, spring does not last forever.

Sowul & Sowul's core activity consists in contracting and producing grass seeds for sowing mixtures, including:

grazing mixes – used for seeding meadows and pastures, intended for animal feeding,
lawn mixes – designed for lawns, gardens, land plots, orchards, sport fields, playgrounds, airfields, roadsides and roadside greenways,
road mixes – used in environmental engineering.

Our mixtures are composed mainly of Polish seeds, produced to a large extent in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship by contracted farmers.

We compile our formulas using the expert consulting of  the members of University of Warmia and Mazury science staff as well as of the Agricultural Consulting Center in Olsztyn.

In 2007, Sowul & Sowul became a full member and stockholder at Hodowla Roślin Bartążek ,IHAR Group. We are convinced that investment in scientific research and native brands will help us achieve our aims and we – together with our customers – will be able to mark fresh territories in the development of new varieties of Poaceae and Fabaceae. In 2009, aware of the fact that it would be a long-lasting process, we purchased the facilities of the Seed Center in Biskupiec Reszelski, where the company's headquarter is currently located. As of present, the business profile of Sowul & Sowul Sp. z o.o. includes – besides selling grass seeds – contraction, production and marketing of cereal, Fabaceae, rape, corn (maize), buckwheat and potato seeds.

Sowul & Sowul, being likely the first company in Europe to do so, has undertaken the production of green bulk feeds with particular regard to the issue of root systems. In the day of unexpected shifts in weather conditions, the structure of a root constitutes – along with the altitudinal zonation and the length of the growing season of particular species of grass – the most important factor in designing the composition of grass mixtures.
In some regions of our climate zone, drought strikes every so often at the very first stage of the growing season. This can severly affect the amount and quality of yield. Sowul & Sowul has developed an innovative solution to the problem. We decided to look at the matter of mixture compositions from a new and so far underestimated angle. We have devised mixtures with a stepdown root system. The stand composition has been thought of in such a way that the plants could grow properly even with a limited access to water. Roots of  Poaceae and Fabaceae  form a sort of steps in the soil
(see the graph). Thus, plants rooted deeper in the ground enable the shallow-rooted species acquiring water and nutrients from the soil. Consequently, the whole ecosystem works properly even in the event of drought damaging pastures, slopes and lawns at the early stages of the growing season. This innovation allows to alleviate the results of a drought and save water.
